The Life I've Lived:

Answers

Once more the world is poised,
On the brink of war.
We are closer to extinction,
Than we've ever been before.
What causes men
To fight with one another?
When, with just a little sense,
We could all be brothers.

Well it's not the average man,
Who starts these fights.
It's our foolish, pompous leaders,
Who tell us what is right,
But the average man,
Just follows right along,
Feeling so self-righteous,
While he sings a martial song.

We sacrifice
Our youngest men each day,
While the ones who give the orders,
Simply hide themselves away.
In secret rooms
They play their games of war,
Where they'll never
Have to hear the battles roar,
Because the screams and crying,
Of the young men dying,
Might distract them,
As they tried to keep the score.

Now I think I've found
An answer to our wars.
It is something
We have never tried before.
Let's gather all
These leaders in the night,
And lock them in a room,
And let them fight.

Then all the average people
Like you and me,
Could hold a long debate
About the key,
And they can fight,
While you and I are free,
Maybe they will fight eternally.
